Abstract

 The features of the shock-wave treatment of the powder mixtures capable to the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) are investigated. Experiments of shock wave initiation and synthesis of cermet TiB2-Al, TiC–Ni are made. The criteria of steady initiation of SHS in Ti+B and Ti+C by explosive impact to recovery fixtures are revealed. Possibility of a combination of explosive welding and compaction with SHS for production layered ceramic-metal materials is shown.
