Fracture toughness of materials with ultrafine grained structure

From the test data obtained on small samples with a chevron notch the characteristics of fracture toughness of commercial titanium VT1-0, titanium alloy VT6 and tube steel 12GBA having an ultrafine grained structure processed by the methods of severe plastic deformation (SPD) are determined. As the basic parameter of fracture toughness the specific fracture energy (SFE) is determined. The change of SFE during the process of loading of samples with chevron notch is studied.
