Temperature dependence of high-energy atoms density in the crystal with NaCl structure

Abstract

 Density of high-energy atoms was calculated at different temperatures for the crystals with NaCl structure with equal and strongly different atomic mass of anions and cations. It was demonstrated that in the crystal with equal mass of anions and cations the density of high-energy atoms is almost constant within the studied temperature range. In the crystal with strongly different mass of anions and cations the density of high-energy atoms increases with increase in temperature. This can be explained by spontaneous excitation of the gap discrete breathers in this crystal at thermal equilibrium.
